Welcome to the very first unscripted episode of A Healthy Push podcast... I'm so nervous for you to listen! Usually, when I'm recording podcasts I have a script in front of me. But today, things are different! In this episode, I talk to you about what's been going on with me and what I've been struggling with recently. My hope is to do more episodes like this one, where you learn and grow alongside me. Together, we can practice not getting everything perfect... and not having everything be about anxiety! So let's talk about what's been going on with me.
How I've Been Struggling Recently - And Let's Talk Perfectionism And Anxiety Recovery!
Let's Talk About Perfectionism
I mentioned that I'm no longer scripting my podcast episodes, but there's a little more to it than that! When I started the podcast, I felt like I had to do everything perfectly. And seeking perfection is a great way to create more anxiety, stress, and burnout in your life! I've been trying to be perfect, and I've also been trying to do it all. I often tell my students and clients that they don't have to try so hard, or to force things... but I often forget to remind myself of the same thing!
And perfectionism isn't something we need in life or anxiety recovery. Because we don't have to get things perfect to show up as the best version of ourselves. In fact, imperfection is what allows us to grow, change, and learn. And for me, that looks like no longer scripting the podcast episodes!
How I'll Be Simplifying Moving Forward
When we try to do everything perfectly, it prevents us from doing the things we actually want in life. And that's why I'm going to be doing lots more simplifying in my life! This might look like me showing up on social media less, creating unscripted podcasts, and embracing imperfection. Simplifying will give me more time to invest in the things I love, like the podcast and my weekly emails. And if you're not already, I highly recommend getting on my email list!
Helpful Lessons And Questions To Ask Yourself
I know how scary it can be to start showing up as yourself and being vulnerable with others. When we've been hiding the imperfect parts of ourselves for so long, it can feel so scary and unfamiliar. But I hope that my vulnerability with you today helps you to recognize that you don't have to get things perfect. You can show up scared, and you can be exactly who you are. I think that you are beautiful and amazing, and anxiety will never dim your light.
Moving forward, my hope is that together, we can start asking ourselves the tough questions. Things like "Am I trying to do things perfectly?" or "Do I really need to heal from anxiety perfectly?". Because I think there's lots of freedom in that imperfection, friend.
Tune in to listen to all of the goodness that will help you to heal and experience lots more peace, joy, freedom, and adventure!
Here's to letting ourselves be human. Until next time, friend, keep taking healthy action!
